明末蕅益旭公大师，本实难测，迹乃四依。仰尊智者之五品而示居名字，融摄诸宗之造始而盛德难掩。悲末劫法门垂地，誓为地藏孤臣。斥时流有名无实，自号八不道人。实末法不可多得之大善知识也。

稽首赞曰：

住世五十有七，遗教三百万言。

禅教律净诸宗，鞭辟入里指南。

儒门四书周易，悉作一乘开显。

举凡诗词歌赋，不离二种庄严。

性相贯无余蕴，行履皎若冰霜。

笔底山摇海沸，眼孔烁破穹苍。

宪章南岳天台，踵武永明真可。

末世中流砥柱，人天知识楷模。

诸佛为众生失道，故说经。菩萨为众生迷经，故造论。论有二种，一则释论，如大智度论。二则宗论，今者是也。大师入灭已，门人成时，辑集诸篇而成此论。然于大师原文曾作删减，实属一大憾事。教内近年来，于《嘉兴藏》续藏及《明别集丛刊》中，寻得《净信堂初集》、《绝馀编》等书，共十余卷，此又为一大幸事也。大师于三十八岁时，曾亲自作序付梓流通，故今有幸睹见原稿。今时弘化社倡印全集，已将此二篇收录其中。然此三书，内容互有重复，单取一本，又皆未全面。今为便于学人读诵研习，将此三书合为一书，名曰《灵峰宗论·合编》，亦可别于成时师所辑版本。合编仍以《灵峰宗论》为底本，仅作三书内容补入替换，于大师原文，不敢私动一字。凡三书重复之内容，皆取余二书未删减原稿补入。《灵峰宗论》中无，而余二书中有者，则按类补入，如楹联等。并天学初征、再征，辟邪集，见闻录等，附之于后，全书约有五十万字。合编一事，予仅作最初提倡。文字整理补入工作，多由明慧、景从等居士代劳，想来恐亦是法门眷属也。

古人有谓：“读灵峰宗论而不堕血泪者，其人必无菩提心”。而华严所明菩提心者，出生一切诸菩萨行，普能摄取一切智道，三世如来皆从此生。是以普愿见闻随喜，皆发无上胜意。直趣西方净土，圆成法王十力。

作者简介 / About the Original Author

蕅益智旭大师（1599—1655），俗姓钟，名际明，字振之，号八不道人，江苏苏州木渎人，明末高僧，后世尊为净土宗第九祖。

大师学贯三藏，融通性相，圆摄禅、教、律、净，一生著述宏富。其著作涵盖经论疏释、戒律、天台教观、唯识、净土及儒释会通等多个领域，对后世汉传佛教影响深远。

Grand Master Ouyi Zhixu (1599–1655), also known as the “Man of the Eight Negations,” was an eminent Buddhist master of the late Ming dynasty and is honored as the Ninth Patriarch of the Chinese Pure Land tradition.

Deeply learned in the Buddhist canon, he integrated the teachings of Chan, doctrine, monastic discipline, Yogācāra, Tiantai, and Pure Land practice. His extensive writings have had a lasting influence on Chinese Buddhism.

合编倡议者简介 / About the Compilation Initiator

云水僧源恒，自号寄舟道人，鲁人，癸亥年生。乙未剃染，丙申圆具。后游历诸方，研教习禅。著有《寄舟道人文集初编》《论语之大乘菩萨精神》《性相一源说》等。摘录《宗镜录》《蕅益大师全集》诸要义，合计百万余字，并撰按语提挈文义，为初学者提供入道之方便。

The itinerant monk Yuanheng, who styles himself Ji Zhou Daoren (“The Wayfarer in a Drifting Boat”), is a native of Shandong and was born in a Guihai year. He entered monastic life in a Yiwei year and received full ordination in a Bingshen year. He later traveled widely, studying Buddhist doctrine and practicing Chan.

His works include A Preliminary Collection of the Writings of Ji Zhou Daoren, The Mahayana Bodhisattva Spirit in the Analects, and The Common Source of Nature and Characteristics. He has selected key passages totaling more than one million Chinese characters from the Zongjing Lu and the Complete Works of Grand Master Ouyi, and has added commentary to bring out and clarify their meaning, thereby providing beginning practitioners with an accessible point of entry into the Buddhist path.
