夫妙法难闻，知识难遇。印光大师，乘愿再来。常惭自许，德厚流光。专弘净土，兼护余宗。斥自力了脱，大胆欺心，而言辞切切。示佛力出苦，三根普被，而悲心殷殷。实末法不可多得之善知识，教内尊其为莲宗十三祖，良有以也。

大师留世文钞，合有百万余言，予前后阅至三遍，每念今人多皆繁忙，恐无暇通阅而错失胜益。故取其要义，撷录成册，约二十五万字。俾无暇者，亦能略窥全貌得其滋养。有余隙者，则通阅尤善也。

印光大师（1862—1940），法名圣量，字印光，自号常惭愧僧，陕西郃阳（今合阳）人。

大师一生专弘净土，持律精严，笃信因果。倡敦伦尽分、闲邪存诚、诸恶莫作、众善奉行；以信愿念佛、求生净土为修行之要。教化朴诚，契理应机，于近代净土之昌明、佛法之振兴，厥功甚伟，后世尊为净土宗第十三祖。

遗著辑为《印光法师文钞》，博涉净土修持、因果教化、家道伦常、护持佛法、日用行持诸端，为近世净业行人之要典。大师力倡刊刻经籍、流通法宝，创设弘化社，广布佛典，泽流后世。

Grand Master Yinguang (1862–1940), whose Dharma name was Shengliang and whose courtesy name was Yinguang, styled himself “the Ever-Ashamed Monk.” He was a native of Heyang, Shaanxi Province.

Throughout his life, Grand Master Yinguang devoted himself to the propagation of Pure Land Buddhism. He strictly upheld the precepts and placed deep faith in the law of cause and effect. He advocated fulfilling one’s duties within human relationships, preserving sincerity and guarding against improper thoughts, refraining from all evil, and practicing all good. He taught that sincere faith and vows, together with Buddha-recitation and the aspiration for rebirth in the Pure Land, constitute the essentials of cultivation. His teachings were sincere and practical, accorded with principle, and responded aptly to the capacities of practitioners. His contribution to the revival of Pure Land Buddhism and the flourishing of the Dharma in modern times was profound, and later generations honored him as the Thirteenth Patriarch of the Pure Land School.

His writings were compiled as The Collected Writings of Master Yinguang, covering Pure Land practice, teachings on cause and effect, family ethics, the protection and preservation of the Dharma, and cultivation in daily life. They have become an important guide for modern Pure Land practitioners. Grand Master Yinguang also strongly encouraged the printing and circulation of Buddhist scriptures and Dharma texts. He founded the Honghua Society and widely distributed Buddhist works, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
