选佛谱者，大师为选佛图所作之谱也。此图乃如来一代时教之总纲。上自妙觉佛果，下至阿鼻地狱，期间升沉始终，竖出横超，皆备讨所以，是故又名十法界图。提挈教门，无以复加，检索十界，如臂使指，的是佛子皆应手备之妙典。三百年来，提倡者少，久湮大藏，甚是可惜。今时教内，有五台山果戒法师，仰尊此图谓‘文字坛城’，念其殊胜难思，故不惮辛劳，数番讲演。后集辑成册，名曰《选佛谱注解》，合有几十万字。已于癸卯春，付梓流通。请而阅之，自有大益。

其游戏规则者，将成佛图平铺桌面，取骰子两枚，六面刻南无阿弥陀佛六字，两枚同掷。或掷出南无，南南，阿佛，弥佛，南阿……等等。于【第一发始因地门】，寻其对应所掷二字，棋子则安放此处，是谓游戏开始。再掷出二字，则在棋子安放处之下方，再寻其对应所掷二字。以此类推，期间或进或退，了无一定，待玩家进至圆教妙觉位、寂光上上品，则名成佛，是谓游戏结束。举例言之，如初次掷出‘阿阿’二字，则于【第一发始因地门】中，寻‘阿阿’，对应则是‘世间福’，棋子则安放此处。第二番掷，如掷出‘弥陀’二字，则于‘世间福’下方，寻‘弥陀’，对应则是‘铁轮王’，则进至【第四欲界人天门】中铁轮王位置，棋子则安放此处。如是以此类推，或一人玩，或多人玩，皆无不可。多人玩，则各自轮流掷骰子。或有掷出二字与棋子安放处无有对应者，是谓不相应，则应重掷。又或掷出赠一、赠二，即指赠送此玩家掷骰子次数。类同跳棋，老幼皆宜。寓教于乐，无出其右。频频把玩，胜益难思也。

蕅益大师（1599‑1655），法名智旭，俗姓钟，名际明，字振之，号八不道人，江苏吴县木渎人，明季高僧，净土宗第九祖、天台宗第三十一祖。

大师通达禅、教、律三学，倡三学圆融，会归净土，期教观并运、行解相应。一生撰述宏富，汇为《蕅益大师全集》，包举经论疏释、律义辨析、禅观要旨、净业修持诸端，义理渊深，诚为后世不可多得之大善知识，为后世研佛者之所宗仰。

Grand Master Ouyi (1599–1655), whose Dharma name was Zhixu, was born into the Zhong family. His personal name was Jiming, his courtesy name Zhenzhi, and he styled himself Babu Daoren. A native of Mudu in Wu County, Jiangsu, he was an eminent Buddhist master of the late Ming dynasty, honored as the Ninth Patriarch of the Pure Land School and the Thirty-First Patriarch of the Tiantai School.

Grand Master Ouyi was thoroughly versed in Chan, Buddhist doctrine, and Vinaya. He advocated the harmonious integration of these three disciplines and their convergence in Pure Land practice, seeking to unite doctrinal study with contemplation and to bring practice and understanding into accord. His writings were extensive and were compiled as the Complete Works of Grand Master Ouyi, encompassing commentaries on sutras and treatises, analyses of Vinaya principles, essentials of Chan contemplation, and Pure Land cultivation. Profound in meaning and principle, he was truly a great spiritual guide rarely encountered by later generations and has been deeply revered by later students of Buddhism.
